COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING COMMITTEE MOVES FORWARD
Completing perhaps the most comprehensive information-gathering
round in UUA history, the Comprehensive Planning Committee is ready to
create the document which, when approved by the congregation, will help us
move into being a middle-sized church with multitudes of programs, a larger
paid staff, and new facilities.
We will respond to desires we see in our fellowship for support to
members with specific needs, such as divorce or single adults, to having
first-class music, to making our infrastructure with committees,
activities, and personnel more accessible to all members, to having the
space for several activities and meetings to be held concurrently without
cramming some or forcing others to find off-site locations. And the list
goes on and on. Some improvements easy, some challenging.
In keeping with the many fellowship committees who have begun to
make changes based upon findings by the Comprehensive Planning Committee,
the Board of Trustees, on the recommendation of the CPC, are authorizing
the formation of an ad hoc Site Search Committee. This committee will
search options not fully explored previously, such as converting abandoned
warehouses into church sites. We will stay in our present site for several
years as we undertake making a huge move in the future and meanwhile work
to build the congregation and financial foundation which will enable us to
make our much-needed facility change.
Many thanks to all who gave their time and expertise to draw us
together in looking toward our future. The future that belongs to us!!
Elizabeth "Tibby" Middleton,
Chairperson of the Comprehensive Planning Committee
